Important Update: Flood Re Premium Changes Effective 1st October 2025

NBS Underwriting

11 September 2025

We want to keep you informed about changes to Flood Re premiums, effective from 1st October. From this date, Flood Re will increase the premiums it charges insurers for policies ceded to the scheme. These premiums are set according to the property’s Council Tax band.

Updated Premium Rates by Council Tax Band (Effective 1st October 2025):

These figures cover only the flood element of the premium, with the total cost also reflecting other risk factors assessed by us. To support brokers and policyholders, we will continue to offer these premiums net of commission, ensuring competitive pricing.

The increase in premiums is designed to ensure the long-term sustainability and affordability of flood insurance. Earlier this year, Flood Re strengthened the scheme by increasing its capacity, raising limits, and adjusting the industry levy to reflect today’s flood risk environment.

As a result, clients may see adjustments to their policy premiums after 1st October 2025. When quoting on the NBS system, please ensure the inception date is entered correctly at the quote stage to produce the accurate premium. If the inception date is amended later, a premium adjustment will be required. We recommend keeping clients informed of these changes and encouraging them to review their cover in light of the new rates.
